Do I really only pay when it arrives?
Yes. Pages are held when you hit send and only deducted when the receiving machine confirms it got them. Busy line, no answer, out of paper, wrong number — the pages return to your balance and we retry up to three times at no cost. After the third failure you get a full refund and a support ticket opens automatically with the transmission log attached.
Is there a free trial I'll forget to cancel?
Your first 5 pages are free with no card and no account, so there's nothing to cancel. If you do start the 7-day Premium trial, we notify you 48 hours before the first charge with the exact amount, canceling takes two taps in Settings, and access runs to the end of the period you paid for rather than being cut off the moment you cancel.
Can I receive faxes, not just send them?
Yes, with any paid plan. Pick a local number by area code or a toll-free one, and incoming faxes arrive as a push notification with the pages as a PDF. If you already have a number, you can port it in free — your old line stays live until the port completes.
What can I send?
PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, JPG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, TXT, RTF, CSV and HTML. Office files convert automatically — there's no manual export step. You can also scan with the camera, combine several files into one fax, or split a long document into separate faxes.
Is it legal to fax from an app?
Yes. US law requires every page to carry the date, time, sender name and sender fax number in the header, and FaxProof adds that automatically from your sender identity. Faxes travel over the same phone network a physical machine uses, so the receiving end can't tell the difference. More on the header rule.
What happens to my documents?
They're encrypted at rest and you choose how long we keep them — 30 days, 90 days, a year, forever, or nothing at all. No-retention mode deletes the document bytes the moment delivery is confirmed, leaving only the receipt. You can export everything as a zip any time, or delete your account and have it purged.
